A review on organic spintronic materials and devices: II. Magnetoresistance in organic spin valves and spin organic light emitting diodes

The topic has recently been of renewed interest as a result of a demonstration of the magneto-conductance (MC) that exceeds 1000% at room temperature using a certain type of organic compounds and device operating condition. d-magnetism instability inR-Co intermetallic compounds

Irina Yu Gaidukova Ashot S. Markosyan Magnetic phenomena observed inR-Co intermetallic compounds with thed-magnetism instability are reviewed. The magnetic instability in these compounds is intimately related to the special position of the Fermi level in the hybridized 3d-5d(4d) band near to a local peak in N(ε). In the presence of the f-dexchange interaction the magnetic state of the itinerant electron subsystem can essentially be modified giving rise to a number offield- and temperature-induced magnetic phase transitions. Following the band structure calculations these transitions as well as most of their fine details can be well understood theoretically. Magnetic, magnetoelastic and transport measurements of some R-Co compounds withd-magnetism instability and pseudobinary systems with R and Co substituted by either magnetic or nonmagnetic elements are presented and discussed. Numerical optimization of piezolaminated beams under static and dynamic excitations

Wankhade, Rajan L. Bajoria, Kamal M. Shape and vibration controls of smart structures in structural applications have gained much attraction due to their ability of actuation and sensing. The response of structure to bending, vibration, and buckling can be controlled by the use of this ability of a piezoelectric material. In the present work, the static and dynamic control of smart piezolaminated beams is presented. The optimal locations of piezoelectric patches are found out and then a detailed analysis is performed using finite element modeling considering the higher order shear deformation theory. In thefirst part, for an extension mode, the piezolaminated beam with stacking sequence PZT5/Al/PZT5 is considered. The length of the beam is 100 mm, whereas the thickness of an aluminum core is 16 mm and that of the piezo layer is of 1 mm. Spheroidal and nanocrystal structures created from carbodiimide crosslinking reaction with RADA16

Monreal, Jorge Hyde, Robert RADA16 is a widely studied polypeptide known for its ability to self-assemble intob-sheets that form nanofibers. Here we show that it is possible to self-crosslink the molecule via 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)carbodiimide hydrochloride (EDC) as aqueous solutions. The product results in a mix of nanocrystals and near micron-size spherules. SEM and TEM pictures provide a view of the structures and nano tracking analysis gives their size distributions. FTIR analysis provides evidence for the existence of a crosslinking reaction. Synthesis, characterization and prospective applications of nitrogen-doped graphene: A short review

Doping of nitrogen in graphene is to tailor/control the electronic, chemical and structural properties of graphene by manip-ulating it through the means of doping such as its surface area and functional sites. Recent advances in the synthesis of copper-based nanoparticles for metalemetal bonding processes

Yoshio Kobayashi Yusuke Yasuda Toshiaki Morita This review introduces our study on the development of Cu-based nanoparticles suitable as fillers in the metal-metal bonding process. Colloid solutions of various nanoparticles such as cuprous iodide, cupric oxide (CuO), CuO mixed with silver oxide (Ag2O/CuO), cuprous-oxide (Cu2O), metallic Cu, plolypyrrole-coated metallic Cu, and metallic Cu containing metallic Ag (Ag/Cu) were prepared by liquid phase processes such as reduction and a salt-base reaction. Metal-metal bonding properties of their powders were evaluated by sandwiching the particle powder between metallic discs, annealing them at a pressure of 1.2 MPa, and measuring the shear strength required for separating the bonded discs. Magnetic properties of CoxPt100 - x nanoparticles

Truong, Thanh Trung Do, Thi Nhung Nguyen, Thi Thanh Van Nguyen, Hoang Nam Nguyen, Hoang Luong CoxPt100- x nanoparticles (x=50, 59, and 73) were prepared by the chemical reduction of Cobalt (II) chloride and Chloroplatinic acid, then ultrasonicated for 2 h. After annealing at various temperatures from 450 C to 700 C for 1 h, structure change was observed and samples show hard magnetic prop-erties which depend strongly on chemical composition and annealing temperature. The highest coer-civity value of 1.15 kOe was obtained at room temperature for sample with x =50 annealed at 500 C.
